Did you make May baskets as a child? Some of us remember folding construction paper into pretty little baskets, filling them with flowers or candies and gluing pipe cleaners to the tops. Then we’d run to friends’ houses in the neighborhood, hang baskets on their doorknobs and run to hide behind a tree to see the recipient’s delight at discovering their gift of affection!
May Day is just around the corner and if you are looking for a fun activity, consider the Sawmill River Arts Gallery your destination!
Susan Loring-Wells, master weaver and artist, will host a May Day basket and card making event in conjunction with Montague’s May Day celebration, on Sunday, May 5 from 12-4 pm. Each participant will take an hour or so to make a special card or simple May basket with materials supplied.
To reserve a spot at the Basket & Card workshop, please sign up by emailing SawmillRiverArts@gmail.com or leave a message with your name and phone number/email at 413-367-2885. Susan will get back to you to arrange a convenient time during the afternoon workshop period. Suggested donation is $5-$10.
Come out and make a card for your mother or a mother friend you know and love!
The event will take place at the Sawmill River Arts Gallery at 440 Greenfield Road in Montague, MA at the Montague Mill.
