“Pushing the Boundaries” show

The Opening Reception Nov. 4 was fantastic, with several member artists on hand to talk about their latest works.

The weather was gorgeous and the event was very well attended. The show remains in place through the end of November!

Fiber Artist Chris Pellerin said:

For me, “Pushing the Boundaries” was an opportunity to stretch my skills as a felter and challenge the physical limits of my studio.  I constructed a nuno felted tunic using merino wool, hand dyed margilan silk gauze from Uzbekistan, and bamboo fibers for texture and sheen.  There are no stitches or seams.  The display includes my measurements, calculations, diagram, sketches, material swatches, and

the gigantic template (about 3 feet by 4 feet) that I used as a resist, as well as some work-in-progress photos to try to explain the process in addition to the actual finished garment.  This is the first garment I have attempted, and by far the largest piece of felt I’ve worked on, so it was a huge challenge for me.  I’m proud of the way it came out and happy to be able to exhibit it at the gallery this month.
