Lori Lynn Hoffer

Lori Lynn has a BA in studio art/art history phi beta kappa from Franklin and Marshall College and an MA Arts from the Villa Schifanoia Graduate School of Fine Arts in Fiesole Italy. She worked for 40 years as a graphic designer and is delighted to be devoted full time to fine arts at this stage in life!

Her paintings vibrate with thick layers of highly saturated color on a black background, in a style sometimes reminiscent of stained glass. She alternates between detailed scenes based on her botanical and landscape photographs and looser imaginary vistas, enjoying both more realistic images and other times something more ephemeral and spontaneous. Nature is the source and inspiration for her work. Color and luminosity and light are what make her paintings sing. Her mantra is everyday blessings, which helps her to cultivate awareness of the everyday beauty of wildness/wilderness and the flora and fauna that surround us. Besides capturing farms, flowers and fields of the Pioneer Valley, Lori Lynn also creates galleries of work focused on other favorite places – in particular the coast of Maine, southeast Florida, Cape Cod, and Italy. Working to capture the essence of what resonates in nature brings her great joy.
